A tiny handprint to leave behind...

These are a couple of things I will miss seeing EVERYDAY at our current home. I have no idea which little girl's hand print this is, or when it happened (Madalyn or Loraly's) but I love seeing it everyday. In fact before we even thought about moving, I honestly couldn't stand seeing this and desperately wanted to get a new door. This is on the door as you are coming into the house from the garage. But when we found out we were for sure moving, seeing this hand print every time I walk in the house, it breaks my heart because it will probably be painted over by the new owners, or thought of as a dirty little hand print!
The other picture is something my husband has always done. When he was growing up his dad would take him and his siblings into the garage and measure them on the door frame. So when we had Madalyn, Mark decided to do the same. We are actually probably going to take this certain piece of wood with us so that we can carry this on.
I am sad because this is really my first home. As a child we moved around a lot. And honestly being in this home for 9 years, 4 (almost 5) months is the longest I have even lived in one place-so this is my home. As I write this it makes me sad to think I have to leave my home. I know we will make the new house our home but I am sad. We desperately need something bigger anyway considering what we currently live in is only 1436 square feet--with 3 almost 4 children and 2 adults living here!
We have brought all 3 of our girls home here from the hospital. We have spent many hours making this house our home. Many hours walking the hall and living room with sick or not sleepy babies. We have decorating for Christmas down to a T now. Certain spots where we all like to sit. Many memories from taking Madalyn swimming in our pool for the first time when she was only 4 months old! (I know now I think I was a little crazy.) to being a single couple living in what we thought was a huge home with absolutely no furniture!
There are certain reasons why we bought a home so quick into our marriage- Mark had always lived in one house his entire life before this one. We didn't want to waste too much money on rent. And number one was we wanted a baby---my grandpa (Papa) told me when we first got married that we could not have a baby until we bought a house because it wasn't fair to that little baby to be in a tiny apartment. So we bought our house in December 1999 and Madalyn was conceived in May 2000!
I have certain plants planted that my Papa gave me to plant here before he died. I have a peach tree, banana tree, Easter lilies (that blossom every year), and a beautiful rose of Sharon (it was only a twig when he gave it to me and now it is taller than the house and has to be trimmed back every year). I also have a rose bush that Mark gave me for Valentine's Day one year. I hate to leave all of this...
I know we will make LOTS of new memories at the new house...but remembering these is bittersweet.
