Super Powers!

When you fight all of your children's battles for them, you are crippling them from their own self esteem. If when they come home, the first things they tell you are all the problems of their day, you should empower them to handle the situation themselves instead of coming to you EVERYTIME. As parents, of course we want to protect our children...but there's a time and a place.

Beach Baby

2011

2012

Funny
different year
same baby
still adores the sandy beach!

I love knowing what my girls loves and trying to ge them there as often as possible! Reese, however loves the beach! She is such a beach babe! As soon as her fat, little feet touch that sand; she is all over it! The water is fun, but she perfers to sit, dig, lay, roll around, and get that stuff all over her!

Penny pinching...

I am all for saving money!

I am all for 'hand me downs'...especially being a third child and having 4 girls of my own.

I like shopping at garage sales, sales, and using coupons :)

But...

There is a point when penny pinching turns into greed. When you expect people to help you, when you expect people to give you things, when you expect people to do things for you...all without asking, all without gratitude, and all without a teaching moment for your children.

When you do these things, what are you teaching your children? To take people for granted, to expect things handed to them, to not have to work for anything, and teaching them that friends, family, and loved ones are your friends to be taken for granted...

I hope that my kids have and are learning the lesson of working hard for ALL we have, ALL we want, and ALL that's important. But that they also know that these 'things' are worldly possessions and are ultimately wants and not needs. And that they will not come with you to a higher place one day...

Every penny counts, but so do friendships...

Life is good!

What a feeling! It's so nice to get to a point in your life where you are satisfied...
Satisfied with:
Health
Family
Kids
The fact that $ is a scarce source ;)
Friends
Church
Just life!

I am at a place that I like! I like who I spend time with, who I seek out to talk to, spending time with my family, and especially my husband and daughters!
I love that my kids have friends that treat them great and enjoy things they enjoy! Having friends that understand and don't judge you for every action you do...
What a feelings...a feeling I like...life is good!

Teachers

Do you ever just get the feeling something was meant to be?

A person, activity, situation...

My girls have been blessed to have had great teachers throughout their school years so far. Teachers that care, teachers that hug, teachers that teach more than just the book stuff, teachers that respond, teachers that are 'the mommy away from
Home', and most important the teachers that have built a special place not only in my
Childs heart but in mine also!

Madalyn was lucky in that her kindergarten teacher was the 'one' for her. Mrs. Humphrey will never be replaced, never be outdone, and always be compared to ;) she is the most loving, sweet, kind hearted teacher we will ever know! Thank her for the foundation she built for madalyn and me as a first time school mommy!

Loraly is currently experiencing the most blessed school year for her thus far! Mrs. Ivey is the 'one' for my Loraly. Loraly needed her, loved her, thrived for someone to how the love and sympathy for her like mrs. Ivey has! We adore her and wish we could keep her a few more years!

God has a plan...a plan for life, a plan for our daily lives, a plan for our future, and a plan for who and what we need in our life! My girls have needed these 2 ladies and how blessed we are to have spent 9 months daily with them!

Bond, G-daddy bond

So my sister and I were always going to name a boy ____ Preston, after my dad (Michael Preston). Well, a boy wasn't meant to be between us; 5 glorious girls is what God had in store for us!
After having 3 girls, choosing 3 names (first and middle), coming up with a 4th wasn't the easiest ;)
So when I found out number 4 was a girl, we sought the help of our other 3 children to help name her! I wanted Stella, madalyn wanted Reese...obviously she won out! And I agree: Reese is definitely a Reese!
So the middle name! Not easy! Talking to my sister, she said why not name her middle name Preston! Just change the O to a Y to make it girly...
So we got a Reese Prestyn! Named after her G-daddy!

So to round out the naming story...
It has come full circle. Reese has an amazing bond with her G-daddy! She wants to call him all hours of the day, she asks for him, wants to see him, wants him to hold her, wants him to put her to bed, wants to ride in his truck, and prefers him over most!

I love how these things work out...not that the naming her made her this way, but what a coincidence!

This is what makes me get out of bed everyday! and get back in bed every night from exhaustion!
