I had my 16 week OB appointment today. It was supposed to be last Friday but had to be cancelled due to a sickly baby. So I got there this afternoon even with me starting to feel yucky. I didn't gain any weight this last month so total so far is still only one pound. Doctor wasn't worried about this at all in fact he told me GOOD JOB! The baby's heart beat sounded great! And here comes the bad news: WE SCHEDULED MY ULTRASOUND! HE WON'T DO IT UNTIL MAY 5! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I asked him if there was any way to move it up some. He said at the most a week. I said never mind...we will stick with May 5, that gives Mark enough time to request that day off work. So May 5th it is! BOY OR GIRL?!

What a week?!
Monday:
normal school day, speech, ballet/ tap/ jazz day
Tuesday:
Madalyn stayed home from school because she was not feeling well. Mom took Loraly to MDO.
Wednesday:
Madalyn stayed home again because she still was running a low grade fever and not feeling well. I made her a doctor's appointment, got everyone up and ready to go except for Sophie, made arrangements for Mom to take Loraly to speech...went to get Sophie up as we were about walking out of the door...and to my surprise when I went into her room-she had vomited AND had diarrhea all over her crib! I just turned and walked out to gather myself because I didn't know where to begin! I got Sophie into the bath, called the doctor back and said there was no way we would be there in time (rescheduled for 3 that afternoon), called mom cancelled her taking Loraly to speech because this was going to take FOREVER to clean up! Loraly got upset because she really wanted to go to speech (why this day she actually wanted to go because it is a battle every day to get her there), so I took all of Sophie's bedding to the laundry room, started a load (good thing her bumpers have zippers to where I can take the pad out), got her cleaned up, and we reluctantly loaded up in the car to drop Loraly off at Mom's to go to speech. We then came back home and took care of Sophie and cleaned (in the meantime I kind of forgot that Madalyn was home because she actually was sick). The vomiting and diarrhea continued ALL DAY. Madalyn seemed to feel better so I called the doctor back and changed over the appointment from Madalyn to Sophie. I took the girls over to Mom's house while I took Sophie to the doctor. He said it was just a stomach virus and he gave her some Phenegren gel to rub on her wrists and this was supposed to stop the vomiting/ diarrhea process (and make her sleepy). This cleaning/ loving/ cuddling/ and more cleaning lasted the rest of Wednesday...oh yeah-and we had a house showing at 5:15!
Thursday:
Got Madalyn back to school finally. Got Loraly to MDO. Sophie and I just did more cleaning (because of so much vomiting and diarrhea), loving, cuddling, all day. I had been noticing all day that she was very manic. She would go into these crying/ throwing a fit/ unconscionable outbursts that I could not control---then she would tucker out from them and pass out into a deep/ passed out sleep. We pretty much didn't do much this day either except what became our norm of cleaning and changes diapers...
Thursday Early Evening:
By Thursday evening I decided that I thought she was becoming dehydrated and we better call the doctor and see what he thought. The nurse over the phone could hear these uncontrollable crying fits and she thought the same thing. She said that I should take her to the ER because it was already 10 till 5 when they closed. So come 5:45 I dropped the girls off at Mom's (Mark had already gotten a hotel in Dallas for the night) and Sophie and I headed to the ER. We checked in at 6:20. I saw quite a few interesting folks...one girl walking around in 3 inch heels, a hot pink bra, and a blanket wrapped around her!...They finally called Sophie back into Triage around 7:15, gave her Motrin because she was running 100.2 temperature. We got a room in the ER. The nurses came in did their thing (gave Sophie medicine to stop the vomiting, but she was still having uncontrollable diarrhea), doctor came in introduced himself. After we talked he thought it might be her kidneys. So the nurses came back and did a catheter-or at least tried. The one main nurse said "Am I even getting it into the right hole!" Me-not a happy Mommy...They got no urine out (IMAGINE THAT!). Time went on and on and after an hour and a half somebody finally came back to see us. But it was only the vitals person...they couldn't tell me much. So a little more time passed, Sophie was drinking and keeping down Pedialyte. They put a bag on her to try and capture some urine to test...no luck there-still no urine. Every bit of liquid she was taking in was either getting soaked up by her little body or coming straight back out in the form of diarrhea. I had brought 6 diapers up there with me. We went through 8. I had to ask the nurses at the nurses station to bring me more (I was so embarrassed to do this). My nurse was no where to be seen for hours along with our doctor. Mom came up to hold Sophie, my back was killing me! We started watching the clock...and watching more...another hour and a half went by! I went up to the nurses station and they were all having cake and having a good ole time! My nurse kept walking by and would just go into another room. I finally saw her and said her name loudly-she turned and said yes...I said we have waited over an hour and a half and we are going home. She said how many diarrhea diapers has she been through while you have been here-8 I said. She said let me talk to the doctor. So very quickly they both came into the room. He said what is the problem, so I started with the fact that 1 1/2 hours was way too long for a baby to be checked on in the ER and that he told me he was going to admit her, get her started on an IV, and draw blood. And that none of that was ever done. We both had a few words, and he finally said that "quite frankly, I forgot about you guys!" ONCE AGAIN-NOT A HAPPY MOMMY! So I told him that I was leaving and taking my daughter, and that we would go to our MD in the morning, and if he wanted to admit her then great, and if not whatever his plans were for my daughter were much better than being forgotten about in the ER!
Friday:
I woke up early, called my OB to reschedule my appointment (supposed to be at 9:45), called Sophie's doctor and made her an appointment, went to get her up only to find that once again I had sheets to wash. She had diarrhea everywhere. So of course I got her in the bath, and started the wash. She actually ate some breakfast and went back to sleep. So while she was sleeping I got dressed, then she woke up and we headed to the doctor's office. Her appointment was at 10:50. I stopped at HEB and picked her up some orange Pedialyte. She had a small sippy cup full on the way there. They got us back pretty quick. Asked questions about the ER, and started the process of looking Sophie over, blood work, trying to collect urine (finally got a small amount that showed a trace of infection), trying to get an IV unsuccessfully twice, collecting a stool sample, etc. Of course this was over the length of about 3 hours. The doctor finally said that he really in his gut just thought this was a really bad viral infection but he wanted to make sure so he wanted us to wait around until the blood work came back to see if we could head home or head to the pediatric ward of the hospital (NO ER). The blood work came back and everything was completely normal. The urine sample that showed infection was traced with some stool which made it inconclusive. So off we came home!!! Sophie had been wanting to eat, taking more than she has in the last 2 1/2 days (nice to hear Momma again)!, still having a little fever, still having lots of diarrhea, but drinking tons of liquids, and now has a very red hiney (yay for happy hiney). We are hopeful that she will feel tons better by the end of the weekend (we have 3 house showings in the next 2 days)! We will all be happy when all this mess is behind us and hoping and praying that no one else in the house (or anywhere else) gets this nasty virus!

My heart aches
Wow, I really need to blog more...
So last week I had my OB appointment. I am currently 12 weeks. I gained one pound since my last appointment---YAY! I was terribly sick with a sinus infection, head cold, and whatever else you want to add to that that can make you MISERABLE! So he gave me a Z-pac! 5 days later I feel pretty good! He said the baby's heart rate sounded really good considering how ill I was. I think the actual day of my appointment I had hit rock bottom...not good.
So all in all, baby is sounding good and we go back in a month.
On the way home from dance yesterday, we stopped to get gas. I left the girls in the car while I was pumping the gas and went I got back in Madalyn was all upset. I didn't even need to ask her what was wrong, she blurted it out to me! She was furious that Loraly didn't remember Paul! Loraly was only 3 when he died. But Madalyn was talking about how in kindergarten and first grade that she didn't have any friends, except Paul. And that she missed him and wished he was still here for her to play with and be friends.
Sophie has not been feeling well since the weekend. So on the way to dance yesterday, I decided to see if the doctor could fit her in. We got her an appointment, dropped Madalyn off at dance class, and headed to the Doctor. Loraly asked me if we were only going for Sophie. She asks this everytime we go to the doctor... So I told her yes, and she started asking questions. She asked if Madalyn ever had accidents in the bed. I told her yes every kid does sometime. See, Loraly is 5, but occasionally still has an accident. We keep a mattress pad under her and that saves me from washing sheets sometimes EVERYDAY. So anyway, she asked me if I would talk to the doctor about why she still has accidents and if he could help her... Wow, big words for a little girl! I didn't talk to him yesterday because I didn't want to embarrass her, but will do so next time I am there.
(I also forgot to post that the Friday before Valentine's Day, Sophie had 4 one year molars pop through!)
My heart breaks for all my girls yesterday... from a sick baby, a little girl missing her best friend, and another little girl wanting to be helped.

My daughter is 8
We had a fun birthday weekend just for Madalyn. Ate all the foods she likes, did all the things she likes, and went all the places she likes. We even pulled out old videos from when she was a baby. Mark likes to do this because he doesn't have any reminiscence from when he was a child much less a baby. We even found the video of Madalyn's sonogram when we found out she was a girl! That was precious! She was sucking her thumb the entire video!
Madalyn is such a special child. She makes life worth living, each day worth waking up, and praying to God each night for! I love her more than I could ever explain! I love to watch her read, to sing, to play with her sisters, to be a wonderful big sister to them, to be creative, to create, to read her bible (which she is on page 399!), and one of my favorites-to watch her dance!
We had a great time yesterday at American Girl celebrating her birthday with a few of her friends! It seems we have started some sort of tradition (on accident)--last year my parents took her to American Girl, then we had her birthday at Poppa Rollo's, we did the exact same this year, just not on purpose! She wanted to eat her birthday dinner today at Poppa Rollo's!
We are already planning another trip to American Girl during Spring Break to get the girls dolls hair fixed!
All in all we had a great weekend celebrating our daughter's last 8 years, and hoping for lots more to come!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADALYN!
